One of my favorite parts of owning a branding design business is being able to work with clients as they grow and evolve their business! I have been so lucky to work with my client wellness and business coach, Kelly Miller on her new logo and branding.
Kelly had been coaching female wellness coaches how to scale and grow their online businesses. As she grew her business, she realized her premade Etsy logo that she purchased years ago wasn’t aligning with her brand. n Kearney, Nebraska on their dance studio brand project. I was ecstatic when she reached out to me to chat about how we could freshen up her branding to make it feel more like her. I couldn’t wait to get started!
My favorite part of starting a new logo client is working with them through discovering the foundation of their business. I do this by having them fill out a worksheet filled with questions that dive into what they do, who they serve and why they do what they do. Afterwards we start doing some research and get inspired on Pinterest! I love this phase!! It really allows us to make sure we are aligned with the overall vision of their vibe.
After a couple of chats with Kelly, it was clear that she was a modern 90s girl at heart. She was on a mission to be the go-to resource to help online female business coaches grow their businesses to their fullest potential while still maintaining a healthy work/life balance. Kelly coaches her clients with a no fluff, down-to-earth and relaxed approach. We wanted to create a brand that encompassed all this!
To achieve this we needed to create a boho chic meets edgy brand. I was inspired by botanical elements to showcase her wellness and free-spirited side. I thought to mix this with collage elements such as the torn paper, polaroids and push pins to give her brand that edginess.
This vibe can be seen in the brand mood board below:
Once we had finalized the overall vibe and feel of her brand refresh, I explored creating logo designs. After a couple rounds of revisions, Kelly fell in love with this logo design that features an arrow and leaf to showcase how she helps her clients grow their businesses. It couldn’t be any more perfect for an online business coach like herself!
To ensure that her new brand is set up for success, I created a horizontal version of her logo as well as a couple of submarks. These submarks are perfect for her to use for her travel blog’s favicon or to use on her social graphics.
Kelly wanted her clients to feel like she understood where they were at while being a little edgy. With that in mind, I created a brand color palette of mostly black and white mixed with gold, indigo blue, light blue, red and grey.
Fonts play a big role in visual branding and are just as important as other brand elements. For this online business coach’s brand, I decided to tie a handwritten marker font with a serif font to give her brand a personal yet professional vibe.
To help keep all her brand assets straight, I created Kelly a set of brand guidelines. This guide is essentially the how to guide for her new brand. That way Kelly knows how to use each part of her branding! It also works great for her to share with her Virtual Assistant to assure that she is creating graphics that are on brand.
Working with Kelly was a dream and I’m so thankful to be the logo designer she selected to create her new branding. You can see her new logo design and rebrand in action by clicking here.
I needed someone like Erica to help me create a logo that represented pieces of my brand I hadn’t even thought of. Images can tell a lot about a brand in such a simple statement. The more we worked together the more I saw the importance of all the little nuances that go into a professional logo.
Now I look at alllll the places I show up online and think.. would Erica say I am being consistent?!?! LOL. That was the smack in the face I needed. Every piece of the brand needs to be the same across all platforms. Plus… Erica did go a bit overboard in the design process. We totally geeked out over all the options together.
Working with Erica was pretty epic! Something women like me, who want a personalized approach to design, should do!
